To foster family-friendly workplaces, Taiwan’s Ministry of Labor has amended Article 2 of the Regulations of Leave-Taking by Workers, increasing fully paid marriage leave from 8 to 14 days with effect from 1 October 2026. The Ministry has also amended and promulgated the Directions for Subsidizing Employers for Marriage, Pregnancy, and Maternity Leave Wages, under which employers may apply for full government reimbursement of wages paid for the additional six days of marriage leave.
While the usage window remains within three months of marriage registration (extendable to one year upon employer consent), transitional provisions allow employees who registered their marriage before 1 October—and whose leave period remains unexpired without fully exhausting the original 8 days—to enjoy the upgraded 14-day benefit.
