At Winkler Partners, we believe that sustainability is more than a concept—it’s a core part of our daily operations. In a recent Interlaw article contributed by Partner Greg Buxton, we were pleased to share how we are putting UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) into practice. Our approach focuses on small, consistent efforts that make a big difference, and we hope they inspire other firms to adopt similar initiatives.
Here are some of the ways we’ve integrated sustainability into our daily routines:
- A Sustainable Lunch Program: In partnership with a local restaurant, we use a reusable bento box system to reduce packaging waste and support local, ethically sourced food.
- Closing the Loop with Composting: Our office composting program turns food scraps into fertilizer for our rooftop garden, where employees grow fresh herbs and vegetables. This garden is overseen by our Green Officer, who also monitors the solar panels that power our office.
- Supporting Local Agriculture: We order organic produce in bulk from a local farmer, giving employees access to fresh vegetables while supporting our community and reducing our reliance on industrial food systems.
- Purposeful Procurement: We prioritize suppliers that align with our values, such as using cleaning supplies from a Taiwanese B Corp and serving dairy from a brand committed to high animal welfare standards.
We invite other firms and professionals to connect with us to share ideas and insights on building a more sustainable future.
