In her IP practice, Ling-ying assists a famous energy drink brand to prevent infringing products from getting past Customs and to protect its interests across the board. She has likewise helped other renowned companies to successfully enforce their trademark rights in industries spanning the Internet, technology, pharmaceuticals, window screens, car fresheners, fashion, sports, and beverages. Ling-ying has also represented prominent individuals, including an NBA star player. Ling-ying has successfully fought for her clients’ best interests before all levels of Taiwan’s court system. Her arguments have overturned prior unfavorable decisions by the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Intellectual Property and Commercial Court.

Ling-ying also advises advertising agencies on how to mitigate legal risk when designing advertising videos and other promotional materials for their clients, which include an international technology company, a financial service provider, and an automotive manufacturer. Ling-ying advises a video game live streaming service provider on advertising law and risk control. In addition, she consults on the labeling requirements for various products such as drinks, food, sunscreen, razors, and textile goods. Ling-ying’s practice spans copyright, trademark, unfair competition, advertising, and labeling related laws. Aside from working as an attorney in law firms, Ling-ying spent 10 years as Taiwan legal manager and then general counsel at an international software company, where she advised on corporate governance and the incorporation and dissolution of subsidiaries and supervised legal matters for subsidiaries in Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, and California. Consequently, Ling-ying is well-versed in all kinds of commercial contracts, especially license agreements, and has considerable experience in the software, hardware, gaming, and manga/anime industries. Her wealth of experience as in-house counsel brings a deep understanding and appreciation of how corporate clients think and behave.
Ling-ying obtained her bachelor’s degree in law from National Taiwan University and her LL.M. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ling-Ying was admitted to practice in Taiwan in 2000. She speaks Mandarin Chinese and English.
