Paul Cox
The head of Winkler Partners’ Translation Department, Paul Cox, is one of Taiwan’s leading experts in legal translation. Prior to joining Winkler Partners from Qi Lin International, Paul was a translation consultant to Lee and Li Attorneys-at-Law and the Institute of Current China Studies.
At Winkler Partners, Paul has led projects translating laws and regulations for numerous government agencies including the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office, Securities and Futures Bureau, Central Bank, and Fair Trade Commission. He has extensive experience translating documents for prominent clients in all fields of legal practice: corporate, intellectual property, litigation, securities, insurance, employment, and criminal matters.
Paul graduated in 1988 from Washington University in Comparative Literature. He studied Mandarin Chinese on a merit scholarship at the Mandarin Training Center of National Taiwan Normal University and Taiwanese at the Taipei Language Institute. He has taught courses in general and legal translation at the Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation Studies of Fu Jen Catholic University, and has lectured on legal translation at various universities and organizations, including the Taipei Bar Association and Taiwan’s Securities and Futures Bureau. Paul also has participated in the planning and administration of Taiwan’s Chinese-English Translation Proficiency Assessment Test.
