Jesimy Yu
Jesimy Yu works on intellectual property prosecutions and dispute resolutions, specializing in trademark, patents, and domain names for international clients. She has prosecuted more than 100 trademarks and opposed or invalidated over 50 marks for one of the world’s largest confectionery companies. Recently, she completed a major research project for this client on Taiwan’s legal regime to prevent the mislabeling of products and has successfully prosecuted a number of design patent applications for the client’s packaging.
Another client is one of the world’s best-known Internet brands. She has assisted this client in prosecuting marks for their software and internet services as well as successfully negotiating a settlement of a difficult domain name dispute for a “.tw” domain name.
Other representative clients include one of the world’s largest multinational beer, wine and spirits companies, several financial services firms, and a number of European luxury brands.
Another important part of Jesimy’s practice is counseling Taiwanese corporate clients on how to build, manage, and protect their intellectual property portfolios overseas. She has helped these clients obtain trademark registrations in Japan, China, the European Union, and North America. Her Taiwanese clients are mainly technology and telecommunications companies.
Jesimy is certified by the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office and the Taiwan Intellectual Property Training Academy in Trademark Maintenance and Application, and Trademark Application Management.
Jesimy holds a B.A. in Business Management from Taipei’s Ming Chuan University, a Bachelor of Law degree from National Taipei University and an LL.M. from Soochow University. She has been with Winkler Partners since the firm’s founding in 2002, and has over 20 years of experience working in the intellectual property field. Jesimy speaks English and Mandarin Chinese.
