Jason Yan

Jason Yan is a senior consultant and member of Winkler Partners’ IP department, specializing in trademark clearance, prosecution, and registry dispute issues. With more than two decades of experience, he manages trademark portfolios for many of the world’s leading brands, advising clients in a broad range of industries including beverage and food services, eCommerce and the Internet, health and beauty, streaming content, and pharmaceuticals.

His clients include one of the world’s largest microprocessor manufacturers, a leading video app, a major social media network, a well-known content streaming service, and one of the world’s largest beverage companies. He has also worked to successfully defend the mark of a Taiwan professional sports league against an invalidation action by a North American league and managed to successfully register trademarks that initially received rejection by Taiwan’s Intellectual Property Office. Jason has particular experience assisting clients register non-traditional trademarks in Taiwan, which is notoriously challenging. He is a member of the International Trademark Association.

Jason takes a hands-on approach in the management and maintenance of clients’ IP portfolios, mentoring newly on-boarded team members and junior associates in the procedure and management of trademark applications, renewals and oppositions. He also helps coordinate caseloads across our IP department to ensure that our clients receive an attentive and responsive service.

Jason received his LL.B. degree in 1997 from National Taiwan University. He speaks English and Mandarin Chinese.
